There's way more to H-E-B than our 400+ Stores. To support our manufacturing and warehouse campus locations, the H-E-B Industrial Facility Services team provides maintenance, repair, and construction in ammonia refrigeration, plant utilities, automated systems, and building services.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain multiple steam and refrigeration systems that serve H-E-B warehousing and manufacturing facilities.
- Perform basic refrigeration operations (putting equipment online, taking it offline, water testing, oil draining, charging compressors with oil, etc.).
- Perform refrigeration engine room operational checks and component pump-downs.
- Assist higher-level operators to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration mechanical equipment.
- Use basic electrical test equipment to perform electrical measurements and basic troubleshooting on AC/DC circuits ranging from 12 volts to 480 volts.
- Preserve piping/equipment by applying paint coatings and perform maintenance inspections on screw compressors, purgers, centrifugal pumps, condensers, evaporators, valves.
- Perform boiler room operational checks, blowdown on steaming boilers, and start-up/shut-down of boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Operate as a first responder during HAZMAT situations and follow SOPs related to stationary engineering logs, work orders, lockout-tagout, and stationary engineer licensing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of experience in industrial maintenance (minimum 2 years experience required).
- Pass RETA CARO certification within a year (required).
- Pass 40-hour HAZMAT certification (or ability to acquire/maintain).
- Boiler operator's license (or ability to acquire/maintain).
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work on ladders and in extreme temperatures.
Physical Requirements
- Work while standing, sitting, stooping, walking, and bending; handle 90 lbs occasionally.
- Work in temperatures ranging from
-20 to 130°F. - Pass an annual HAZMAT physical and maintain stationary engineer license as required.
