The Plant Sanitation Manager is responsible for ensuring the Niagara Bottling Plant cleaning and sanitation policies and standards are met. The primary focus of the Sanitation Manager is to ensure the Niagara cleaning and sanitation systems protect food safety and quality of our beverages and bottled water. The Sanitation Manager position reports to the Plant Director or Sr. Operations Manager.
Essential Functions- Assure all sanitation staff work safely and use proper PPE.
- Direct staff to ensure all sanitation requirements are covered on every shift.
- Develop, publish, maintain, and approve all plant‑specific cleaning and sanitation procedures, records, and standards for bottled water and beverage production, meeting Niagara Corporate Quality cleaning and sanitation policies.
- Ensure cleaning and sanitation requirements are met across the plant; including microbiological sampling, verification, validation, and support QA with GMP, FDA, SQF and co‑packer audits.
- Develop and track metrics—chemical cost, CIP frequencies/times, microbiological test results, GMP plant audits—to ensure requirements are met; work with chemical suppliers to track/trend these metrics.
- Work with approved chemical suppliers and plant team to conduct verification and validation of cleaning and sanitation.
- Assist in troubleshooting and problem‑solving food safety and quality issues.
- Ensure the plant uses approved chemicals for cleaning and sanitation.
- Implement a training program for CIP, COP, and environmental cleaning and sanitation, covering chemical safety, CIP/COP basics, external cleaning, sanitary maintenance oversight, etc.
- Provide environmental oversight of sanitation processes and inform the Plant Engineer of potential wastewater or discharge issues.
- Maximize use of Niagara’s document control software, quality systems, or CIP monitoring software for sanitation/cleaning documentation and record keeping.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

- Minimum Qualifications
- 6 years experience in field or similar manufacturing environment.
- 6 years experience in a sanitation position.
- 4 years experience managing people/projects.
- Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years experience in field or similar manufacturing environment.
- 10+ years experience in a sanitation position.
- 6 years experience managing people/projects.
- Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
- Experience with automated and manual CIP systems.
- Experience in sanitation audits, equipment specifications, and sanitary process design.
- Ability to make independent judgments on issues affecting sanitation procedures, forms, policies, and standards.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Effective interaction with all levels of the plant.
- Willingness to pursue personal and professional development.
- Performs work without direct supervision.
- Handles complex issues or problems; brings additional resources as needed.

- Minimum Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Quality, Biological Sciences, Engineering, or other related field.

- Master’s Degree in Food Science, Quality, Biological Sciences, Engineering, or other related field.
