Job Description
Put your welding skills to work at Texas Hydraulics.
A quality weld takes skill, precision, and pride in your work. We’re looking for a MIG Welder who brings all three. In this hands-on role, you’ll set up equipment, prepare and weld production components, and inspect your work to help build hydraulic products our customers depend on.
What You’ll DoCreate quality welds. Use GMAW/MIG welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions, applying proper techniques to achieve required fusion, weld size, and bead profile.
Set up for success. Select and change welding wire, connect cables and work leads, and adjust equipment settings according to Welding Engineering requirements and production documentation.
Prepare and assemble components. Clean and prepare weld joints, preheat parts to specified temperatures, position components in jigs or fixtures, and tack assemblies before welding.
Check your craftsmanship. Inspect welds for specified characteristics, properly tie in weld starts and stops, make repairs as needed, and remove excess weld material, slag, and spatter.
Work safely and responsibly. Follow safety rules and operating procedures, demonstrate integrity and accountability, and support other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related welding experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated GMAW/MIG welding skills and attention to detail.
Ability to pass a pre-employment GMAW/MIG qualification test using a 1-inch groove weld plate in the 1G (flat) position.
Ability to understand and follow safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and welding documentation.
Basic math skills, including calculations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
You’ll work in a manufacturing environment where standing, handling tools and parts, reaching, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds are regular parts of the job. Occasional activities include walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and verbal communication. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment includes regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, welding fumes, and airborne particles; frequent exposure to process heat, welding radiation, and vibration; and occasional risk of electrical shock. Noise levels are typically loud.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
