Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery. The RN assesses patients, develops individualized plans of care, implements interventions, and evaluates responses, promoting safe passage without preventable complications.
Unit SummaryBusy ER in level One Trauma Hospital – certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center. Average 220 visits per day. RN staff are proficient in Stroke and STEMI activations and established care guidelines. Fast‑paced environment dependent on teamwork. 50 exam rooms and 6 trauma bays. RNs work closely with ED providers, social workers, registration, etc. Caring for adult, pediatric patients as needed.
Essential Functions OfThe Role
- Clinical Judgment – conduct accurate assessments, prioritize needs, develop and evaluate the nursing plan of care.
- Clinical Inquiry – evaluate quality of nursing practice, support evidence‑based practice changes, participate in quality improvement initiatives.

- Response to Diversity – incorporate patient and family diversity into individualized plan of care.
- Advocacy and Moral Agency – preserve confidentiality, autonomy, dignity and represent concerns.
- Facilitation of Learning – facilitate learning for patients and families, nursing staff and team through education.
- Collaboration – work collaboratively and interdependently with colleagues and community.
- Systems Thinking – use strategies and resources for problem‑solving and consider safety, effectiveness and efficiency.
- Professionalism – improve nursing practice, participate in shared governance, commit to ongoing professional growth.
- Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations and hospital unit policies.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, principles of health promotion and disease prevention.
- Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written). Interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Observe changes in medical condition and communicate to nursing staff and physicians/providers.
- Provide age‑specific, quality, patient‑centered care; evaluate and modify patient care plan.
- General computer skills (Microsoft Office, scheduling and payroll systems, EMR, email).

- Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience in Emergency Room Care.
- Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Registered Nurse $2,000 SIGN ON BONUS FOR FULL‑TIME. Registered Nurse – Full‑time Night Shift 7p‑7a! SIGN ON BONUS $7,500.
