Job Overview
Baylor Scott & White Health Medical Center is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse to join our Ortho Trauma Progressive Care Unit (5 South). Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636‑bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin.
ScheduleFull Time - 36 hours per week
Unit SummaryThis is a 35‑bed monitored nursing unit that provides the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients ranging from adults to geriatrics. The conditions within the unit’s scope of service include:
- Post ICU trauma patients (serious traumatic injury to 2 or more body systems)
- Complex plastic reconstructive surgeries (including reconstructive flaps and graft sites, post‑cancer reconstruction, and trauma‑related reconstruction)
- Complex ENT patients including free muscle flaps and neck dissections
- Complex ENT reconstructive tracheostomies and laryngectomies
- Traumatic complex fractures and musculoskeletal wounds
- Elective joint replacements – Rapid Recovery Program
- Sports injuries
- Spinal deformities
- Complicated pelvic, hip, and compression fractures
- Skeletal malformations and abnormalities
- Amputations and prosthesis
- Neurosurgery, vascular surgery, general surgery
- Medical/surgical patients including those requiring telemetry
- Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits

Requirementsof the Ideal Candidate
- Graduate of RN School of Nursing (ADN required)
- Active RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar setting
- Education – Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Major – Nursing
- Experience – 2 years of experience in trauma or orthopedic nursing
- Certification – Registered Nurse (RN); BLS (within 30 days of hire)
