Registered Nurse – Medical ICU
Baylor Scott & White Temple invites a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Level One Medical ICU Department. The full‑time night shift (7 p‑7 a) offers a 36‑hour week in a 636‑bed specialty teaching hospital that is a Magnet‑designated Level 1 Trauma Center.
Unit Summary- 23‑bed Medical ICU staffed by acute and chronic illness patients.

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, health issue recognition, care plan creation, and patient response evaluation. Secure patient travel and adhere to the Texas Nursing Practice Act, delegating tasks based on condition and team competencies.
Essential Functions- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
- Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting to reach desired outcomes.
- Build therapeutic connections with patients and families.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering knowledge for better healthcare choices.
- Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly, working with colleagues and community.
- Use problem‑solving strategies, prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
- Contribute to peer development, demonstrating community service commitment.
- Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards.
- Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, and guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical terminology focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects.
- Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive social skills for diverse interactions.
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.

Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- RN license required.
- BLS certification or acquire within 30 days of starting.
- Minimum 1 year ICU RN experience.
