Overview
Camper Care Advocate
- Seasonal Position at JCC Association of North America. Neil Klatskin Summer Camps in Tenafly, New Jersey is looking for a Camper Care Advocate to provide assistance and support to a caseload of inclusion campers (ages 3-12) and staff.
Pre-Camp
- Attend monthly planning meetings from January-June.
- Welcome & introduction phone calls to parents.
- Work with the leadership team to plan, lead, and attend camp staff training.
- Collaborate with the Inclusion Team on shadow assignments to ensure proper matches with campers.
- Participate in camper/staff onboarding prior to the summer, reviewing forms and creating camper success plans.
- Coordinate with the Inclusion Team to facilitate family/parent/shadow meetings.
- Set up and manage each Sensory Room in coordination with the Inclusion Team.
- Attend and oversee Camp Family Meet & Greet on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
- Assist in grouping, staffing, and scheduling.
- Camp
- Attend daily leadership morning meetings and weekly all-staff meetings.
- Lead shadow meetings as needed with the inclusion team.
- Serve as a resource for shadows/campers/staff and troubleshoot solutions, including updates to Camper Success Plans.
- Provide intervention with campers and staff when challenges arise, coordinating with the Inclusion Director.
- Monitor setup, cleaning, and usage of Sensory rooms daily.
- Communicate with parents mid-summer, end of summer, and as needed.
- Submit ongoing data to the Inclusion Director.
- Assist with arrivals and dismissals each day.
- Daily check-ins on caseload of inclusion campers and shadows.
- Evaluate the season and share suggestions for the following season.
Other duties as assigned.
Salary
:
Salary Range $6K-$7K. Salary commensurate with experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience working with children
- Previous camp experience
- Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp setting
- Ability and experience supervising staff and campers
- Current CPR and first aid certifications
- Must be available to work June 23 – August 15, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, as well as:
- Once a month January-April 2025 and twice a month May-June 2025
- Open House (2/9/25 & April TBD), Staff Orientation (6/8, 6/9, 6/16, 6/17), staff meetings (once per week during camp), Interactive Nights and additional programs as needed prior to and during camp.
