• Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials.
• Perform procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.
• Prepare treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Ready patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping them.
• Provide information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
• Assemble instrumentation by sterilizing, delivering instruments, positioning for dentist’s access, suctioning, and passing instruments.
• Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing on instruments and in the patient’s mouth.
• Provide diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies and pouring, trimming, polishing study casts.
• Maintain patient appearance and masticatory ability by fabricating temporary restorations and cleaning & polishing removable appliances.
• Help the dentist manage emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
• Document dental care services by charting in patient records.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Ensure proper operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling repairs, maintaining inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering, and verifying receipt.
• Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies necessary to accomplish job results.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

• A valid State of TN Dental Assistant license with expanded functions qualifications.
• At least 3 years of chair-side dental assisting experience in a general dentistry practice.
• X-Ray Certification.
• Nitrous Oxide Certification.
• Knowledge of dental health maintenance.
• Experience with dental technology;
  Dentrix experience highly preferred.
• Infection control knowledge.
• Patient services experience.
• Active listening skills.
• Teamwork and teambuilding skills.
• Kind and compassionate bedside manner.
• Health promotion and maintenance knowledge.
• Use of medical technologies.
• Ability to perform diagnostic procedures.
