Experience

  • b. Five (5) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years;
  • c. Two (2) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years and a postsecondary technical school certificate in Manufacturing Operations/Technology;
  • d. One (1) year of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years and an Associate degree in Manufacturing Operations/Technology; or
  • e. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations/Technology

Example Qualifying

Experience:

Computer-aided drafting (CAD), electronic engineer, electronic semiconductor processor, electronic technician, engineer, industrial maintenance, industrial production manager, machinist, numerical control machine tool programmer, plant manager, postsecondary technical school instructor in endorsement area

Industry Certification

  • National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certification;
  • Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program (SMSCP) Instructor Certification – Level 1;
  • Certified Production Technician (CPT);
  • Certified Manufacturing Associate;
  • U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship; or
  • Any directly aligned Tier 2 or 3 credential in the Industrial Maintenance, Machining Technology, or Mechatronics programs of study within the Advanced Manufacturing career cluster of Tennessee
  • Promoted Student Industry Credentials.

Welding 6-12 (705)

Minimum Education High School diploma

Experience

  • a. Three (3) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last five (5) years;
  • b. Five (5) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years;
  • c. Two (2) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years and a postsecondary technical school certificate in Welding/Fabrication;
  • d. One (1) year of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years and an Associate degree in Welding/Fabrication; or
  • e. Bachelor’s degree in Welding/Fabrication

Example Qualifying

Experience:

Welders; individuals with experience in blueprint reading, layout, and fabrication using oxy-fuel cutting SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW processes on various metals; postsecondary technical school instructor in endorsement area

Industry Certification

  • Any AWS Certification;
  • U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship;
  • Certified Welding Educator Certification;
  • NOCTI assessment (Welding 5279);
  • NCCER certification in endorsement area; or
  • Any directly aligned Tier 2 or 3 credential in the Welding program of study within the Advanced Manufacturing career cluster of Tennessee Promoted Student Industry Credentials.

In addition, NCCER certificates without content-specific titles will be accepted for licensure purposes. However, any NCCER certificate used as an industry certification for endorsement purposes must be valid and directly related to the endorsement area.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or higher

Tennessee Licensed Teacher OR eligible to obtain a TN License with required endorsement.

Purpose Statement:

The teacher will provide support to the instructional process by supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
