Voice & Piano Instructor

Location: In-person (with optional online lessons)

Position Type: Part‑time
· Independent Contractor

Compensation: $36 per hour

About the Studio: We are a professional, musician‑led music education studio serving students of all ages and levels. Our teaching philosophy emphasizes musical literacy, healthy technique, expressive musicianship, and long‑term student development.

Position Overview: We are seeking a qualified Voice & Piano Instructor with formal training and teaching experience who is able to teach both voice and piano. This position is ideal for an instructor looking to build a long‑term, stable teaching schedule within a supportive studio environment.

Please note:

student enrollment grows over time; while we actively market and place students, a full teaching load develops gradually and is not immediate.

Responsibilities
  • Teach weekly private lessons in both voice and piano
  • Work with children, teens, and adult students
  • Create and follow individualized lesson plans
  • Teach healthy vocal technique, breath support and musicianship
  • Teach piano technique, coordination and music reading
  • Encourage effective practice habits and steady progress
  • Communicate professionally with students, families and studio staff
  • Participate in recitals and studio events as scheduled
Required Qualifications
  • Music degree required (voice, piano, music education or related field)
  • Prior experience teaching private music lessons required
  • Must be able to teach both voice and piano
  • Strong music reading skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable, punctual and professional demeanor
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching children and teens
  • Experience preparing students for recitals or performances
  • Comfort with multiple styles (classical, musical theater, contemporary)
Compensation & Structure
  • $36 per hour
  • Independent contractor (1099) position
  • Teaching schedule builds progressively as students enroll
  • Administrative support provided (scheduling, billing and communication)
