Overview
The Nolensville Preschool and Children’s Minister is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Nolensville Next Gen/Student Minister for developing a comprehensive Biblically-based education and discipleship program for children birth through grade 5 in the Nolensville campus. This role is designed to develop and maintain a vision for the spiritual formation of children, while also equipping and resourcing parents and families, thus reinforcing the home as the center of godly influence.
The Preschool and Children’s Minister will align with the mission and vision of our church, developing age-appropriate venues for connecting others to Christ through the Disciples Multiplying Disciples (DXD) Strategy.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify the needs of children birth through grade 5 and their families within the church family and larger community to which the church ministers
- Working alongside the Next Generation/Student Minister; create and implement a strategic plan for the spiritual formation of all children and adult leadership that is aligned with the mission, vision, objectives, and goals of Brentwood Baptist Church
- Cast vision of our Preschool and Children’s Ministry as it relates to our discipleship strategy (DXD) and @Home (family-equipping) initiatives
- Give full support to our families and work with the entire staff to encourage, support, and challenge our parents to be the primary disciple rs of their children through resourcing, intentional relationships, and having a deliberate strategy for getting them directly involved in the ministry
- Plan specific ministry activities and programs to meet the needs of children and their families
- Ensure that all children’s educational materials are Biblically based and age-appropriate
- Supervise the work, coordination, and overall direction of all Preschool and Children’s Ministry departments on the Nolensville campus (this includes Sunday morning, Sunday evening, New Christian Class, and Weekly Children’s Worship experiences)
- Coordinate recruiting, screening, and training of all preschool and children’s workers
- Provide planning and direction specifically for ministry during the pivotal transitional years (4 yrs. to Kindergarten and 5th to 6th Grade) by cooperating with the Next Gen/Student Minister
- Give planning, direction, and ultimate leadership to preschool and children’s ministry catalyst events such as Vacation Bible School, camp and mission efforts to reach unchurched families
- Support the development of strategic partnerships and missional opportunities with our regional campuses and the overall Middle Tennessee Initiative
- Provide pastoral care for lay leadership and families in the preschool and children’s ministry, including spiritual matters (salvation, baptism, etc.) and personal and/or family matters
- Plan and conduct leadership training for new teachers and volunteers and continued training for experienced leadership
- Develop ministry goals and self-development plans each year that coordinate with the mission, vision, and values of the church
- Prioritize collaborative Church-wide Next Gen. Meetings to ensure Ministry DNA alignment.
- Maintain a program of spiritual, professional, and physical self-development, including a monthly spiritual retreat day
- Pursue and model a life that honors Christ and exemplifies the staff values of the church
- Serve in an assigned rotation as the minister on call and the minister on site
- Be available for pastoral care of church and nonchurch members as needs arise
- Serve as a teacher or speaker when necessary for various Preschool and Children’s Ministry programs (Bible Study and New Christian Class)
- Collaborate with the Next/Student Minister to develop a comprehensive plan for ministry to Birth-12th grade
- Participate in Model-Netics (Main Event Management), a leadership course offered and provided by the church, in the first year of employment
- Attend all required staff meetings (at Nolensville and Brentwood) and complete forms and reports in a timely and concise manner
