Automotive Mechanical Engineer

Our client is seeking a dedicated Automotive Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering department in East London. This role involves contributing to the design, development, and testing of automotive components and systems, ensuring they meet stringent performance, safety, and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and optimize vehicle performance. The successful candidate will be passionate about the automotive industry and eager to make an impact within a key manufacturing hub in the Eastern Cape.

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for vehicles, including powertrain, chassis, or body systems.
• Conduct simulations and analysis (e.g., FEA, CFD) to validate design integrity and performance.
• Participate in prototype vehicle build and testing, analyzing results and recommending improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
• Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions throughout the development cycle.
• Stay updated on automotive industry trends, technologies, and regulations.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in automotive mechanical design and development.
• Proficiency in automotive CAD/CAE software (e.g., CATIA, ANSYS, STAR-CCM+).
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with vehicle testing and validation procedures.
