Position Summary: The X-Ray Tech/Medical Assistant provides basic clinical care to patients, including initial evaluations and directed procedures for urgent care. Responsibilities include performing x-ray testing, understanding anatomy and physiology, and preparing patients for further evaluation by advanced registered nurse practitioners, including taking histories, vital signs, and recording documentation.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Greet patients politely, promptly, and helpfully.Check patients in and out at the front desk to ensure smooth patient flow.Communicate wait times and next steps effectively to patients.Address patient problems and recognize emergency or hazardous situations, seeking help when needed.Follow up on lab and x-ray results in a timely manner.Assist with patient check-in/out procedures as necessary.Obtain and document vital signs, weight, brief medical history, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent information.Administer medications as ordered by the provider within your licensure/certification.Perform CLIA-waived lab tests, draw blood, collect and label specimens, and conduct urine drug screens and Breath Alcohol Testing.Prepare patients for radiologic procedures, following safety and regulatory guidelines, including radiation protection.Ensure equipment is operational, report malfunctions, and coordinate repairs.Complete documentation and paperwork related to patient visits.Maintain examination rooms and stock supplies as needed.Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies.Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other procedures appropriate to training and under clinician supervision.Perform additional duties as assigned.Act with honesty and integrity in all transactions.Maintain regular and reliable attendance.X-Ray Job Description:
Perform radiologic imaging on appropriate anatomical regions following standards and protocols.Complete and explain Patient Screening forms and procedures to patients.Ensure patient care, comfort, and safety.Provide images in the desired format.Conduct equipment quality checks, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs.Maintain a clean environment.Follow quality assurance and confidentiality guidelines.Perform additional duties as required.Education:
Graduate from an approved two-year Radiologic Technology or LMRT program.High school diploma or equivalent.Special Skills and Requirements:
Be registered with ARRT or eligible, with a current Iowa license.Interact professionally and ethically with clients and team members.Produce high-quality imaging with minimal supervision.Assist Radiologists in exam interpretation.Work effectively in a team environment.Be flexible, reliable, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.Lift at least 60 pounds and assist with patient movement.Demonstrate competency in all applicable areas.Schedule:
