Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Behavioral Health Billing Specialist to join our administrative team in Cordova, TN. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience, with behavioral health billing experience strongly preferred. This is an in-person, full-time role that plays a vital part in ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services provided by our clinicians.
Responsibilities
Prepare and submit insurance claims for behavioral health and psychiatric services (both HCFA 1500 and UB-04 when applicable)
Verify patient eligibility and insurance benefits for behavioral health services
Monitor aging reports and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
Correct and resubmit denied or rejected claims in a timely manner
Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the practice management system
Work with patients on billing inquiries, outstanding balances, and payment plans
Coordinate with providers and front desk staff to ensure documentation accuracy
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer policies, and relevant state/federal regulations
Generate financial and productivity reports as needed
Assist in credentialing and payer enrollment processes (if needed)
Other duties as assigned
? Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience required
Behavioral health billing experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and insurance guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial)
Experience with electronic claims processing, clearinghouses, and payer portals
Familiarity with EHR/PM systems (such as Advanced
MD, Tebra, Therapy Notes, etc.)Strong understanding of insurance authorization, coding, and reimbursement
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
