Position Overview:As our HPDU Safety Manager, you will report to the Sr. Manager of Safety and will be responsible for overseeing and implementing radiological and industrial safety programs and policies to ensure a safe work environment at the NOG-J site for HPDU pre‑production and production activities. This role involves assessing workplace hazards, conducting safety training, and monitoring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
The role will integrate within an existing safety program to work closely with facility staff, management, and external agencies to promote a culture of safety and health.

Your Day to Day as a HPDU Safety Manager at BWXT NOGJ:- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Regularly review and update safety protocols to ensure relevance and compliance
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Analyze incident reports and develop strategies to prevent reoccurrence
- Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote awareness of safety practices and protocols
- Maintain documentation of training programs and employee participation
- Lead investigations of workplace safety incidents and near misses, documenting findings and developing corrective action plans
- Communicate findings to management and relevant stakeholders, ensuring that follow‑up actions are implemented
- Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, ensuring that all facility personnel are familiar with protocols
- Conduct regular drills and training sessions to prepare staff for emergency situations
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training activities
- Prepare and present safety reports and metrics to management, identifying trends and recommending improvements
- Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and industry standards, ensuring that the facility remains compliant
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety practices into daily operations
- Foster a culture of safety by promoting open communication about safety concerns and encouraging employee engagement in safety initiatives
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related science or engineering field; a master’s degree is a plus
