Operations Manager
Peterson Consulting Group is actively hiring a Project Manager – Commercial Heavy Civil to lead complex infrastructure and civil construction projects across Colorado. This role is designed for an experienced project leader who can take full ownership of large earthwork and utility installation scopes, while driving performance across safety, schedule, cost, and quality.

Position OverviewThe Project Manager provides overall administrative and technical direction for one or more large, complex heavy civil projects. This role holds ultimate project authority, partners closely with field leadership, and may oversee multiple smaller projects through subordinate project and construction managers.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and execute project objectives in alignment with company values and operational standards
Plan, organize, and staff key field positions in coordination with regional leadership and department heads
Establish project policies, procedures, schedules, and performance benchmarks within corporate guidelines
Serve as the primary liaison with clients, engineers, architects, and inspectors to facilitate construction activities
Direct field operations through on-site Superintendents to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
Proactively identify project risks, investigate issues, and implement corrective actions
Represent the company in project meetings, coordination sessions, and labor strategy discussions
Manage all financial aspects of assigned contracts, including cost control, forecasting, equipment rentals, income, and expenses
Supervise and mentor Project Managers I & II when assigned
Ensure full compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Maintain consistent on-site presence throughout the project lifecycle
5+ years of progressive project management experience in heavy civil, commercial, or infrastructure construction
Strong knowledge of project controls including documentation, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, dispute resolution, and resource planning
Proven ability to apply effective leadership and management techniques to maximize team performance
Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, standards, and procedures
Strong business acumen with excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Salary range: $115,000 – $135,000 annually
