Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse who demonstrates competencies and knowledge in all aspects of age-specific care. Will demonstrate safe and effective practices per state, federal, JCAHO standards, and regulations. Will be competent in supervisory skills for employees within the assigned unit.
Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. - Preferred: N/A
Experience:
- Required:
6 months clinical experience - Preferred:
Medical Surgical Nursing experience of at least 1 year. Emergency Room nursing experience of at least 2 years
Position Requirements:
License/Certification/Registration
- Required:
Current Nursing license for the State of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. - Note:
The Nurse Licensure Compact does not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.
Preferred:
Current Certification for ACLS. Current Certification for PALS.

Position Summary:
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills. Responsible for direct and indirect patient care. Demonstrates assessment skills for patient admission. Responsible for admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, including the continuum of care. Possesses knowledge of EHS, state, federal, and JCAHO standards/regulations pertaining to patient care.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans. Responsible for interpretation and completion of LIP orders. Possesses interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Demonstrates safe practice and competencies for treatment, including medication administration. Possesses knowledge of current trends and principles of nursing applicable to specialized areas requiring additional education.
