About the Role
Our client, a significant player in the forestry industry near East London , is seeking a dedicated Forestry Technician with a specialization in silviculture. This role involves actively participating in and supervising forest management activities aimed at ensuring the health, growth, and sustainable yield of timber resources. You will work in the field, conducting surveys, implementing planting and thinning programs, and monitoring forest health.
This is a practical, hands-on position for an individual passionate about forest management and conservation within the beautiful Eastern Cape region.
- Assist in planning and executing silvicultural operations , including site preparation, planting, and植被管理 (vegetation management).
- Conduct forest inventories, site assessments, and health monitoring surveys.
- Implement pest and disease control measures as directed by forest managers.
- Supervise and train field crews involved in planting, pruning, and other forest management tasks.
- Maintain records of silvicultural activities, operational costs, and forest growth data.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards in all field operations.
- A diploma or certificate in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in forestry operations, with a focus on silviculture.
- Practical knowledge of tree species, planting techniques, and forest growth cycles.
- Experience with forest inventory methods and data collection.
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Good physical condition and the ability to perform manual tasks associated with forestry work.
