Responsibilities- Provide physical security by armed presence at fixed posts or patrols to protect NFS interests from theft, sabotage and other hostile acts that may cause an adverse impact on national security and/or health and safety of employees, the public or environment.
- Serve as a deterrent for the protection of Special Nuclear Material (SNM).
- Maintain compliance with all site policies, procedures, directives and Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR 73.45, 73.46.
- Assess alarms, investigate and report suspicious activities and/or circumstances.
- Identify safety and/or fire hazards and make recommendations for improvement.
- Report degradation, deficiencies and accidents in accordance with current procedures and take appropriate corrective actions as directed by Security Supervision.
- Control access of personnel, vehicles and materials into the protected area.
- Perform protected area, vital area and fire watch patrols.
- Perform compensatory postings and escort duties as directed by Security Force Supervision and in accordance with current procedures and directives.
- Perform surveillance tests and inspections and test alarm systems such as metal detectors, explosive detectors, x-ray machines, perimeter alarms, protected and vital area alarms, and fire alarms.
- Maintain job task proficiency in accordance with 10 CFR 73 App
B. - Participate in cognitive and performance-based training.
- Participate in performance-based testing to demonstrate job proficiency, including job knowledge and skills.
- Meet and maintain requirements established by site policies and procedures, including physical fitness requirements for Armed Security Police Officers.
- Respond to contingency events in accordance with appropriate procedures and as directed by Security Force Supervision.
- Participate in security drills, practical exercises and required training programs as directed.
- Maintain periodic qualification of academic requirements including radiation protection, access control, etc., as well as armed response, physical fitness and weapon requirements.
- Adhere to regulatory fatigue orders and work hours tracking requirements.
- Ensure housekeeping expectations are met and maintain all required qualifications for site access.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass any state or federally required training or other qualifications for licensing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and NRC U security clearance.
Pay: $26.25 per hour. The starting rate for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) is $26.25 per hour. The total compensation package may include a full range of medical, retirement and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these plans will be provided at the time of offer and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
