Diesel Mechanic – WOODALL GRAIN

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel engines used in heavy trucks, buses, and other diesel-powered equipment. This position involves diagnosing engine and drivetrain issues, performing complex mechanical repairs, and ensuring optimal vehicle performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines and related systems (fuel, brakes, transmission).
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify issues and perform repairs efficiently.
  • Replace worn or faulty components (injectors, turbochargers, etc.).
  • Conduct safety inspections and perform emissions tests as required.
  • Perform overhauls and rebuilds on diesel engines and transmissions.
  • Document work completed and parts used on work orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; diesel technology certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on diesel repair experience.
  • Knowledge of heavy‑duty truck systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools.
  • CDL and/or ASE certification in diesel engines (T-Series) preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a shop setting and occasionally outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noises, grease, oil, dust, and mechanical parts is common.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • Use of protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots is required.
  • May be required to work weekends or respond to urgent maintenance needs.
