Substitute Instructor (On-call) - Link to Employment & Academic Pathways (Terrace)

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for non-regular, on-call Substitute Instructor positions in the Workplace Skills Training (WST) program for students with diverse learning needs. Appointments commence as soon as possible and end May 22, 2026 on an as-required basis. Salary is in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Salary Scale.

Duties
  • Provide backup coverage for the regular instructors.
  • Facilitate learning for students in the WST program, ensuring successful completion of courses.
  • Prepare courses, teach, guide students, and complete related administrative, record-keeping, and monitoring activities.
  • Support students with barriers to employment and help them develop social, interpersonal, and practical workplace skills.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Education or Social Work plus experience working with adults with cognitive disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Equivalent combination of education, skills, and extensive experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and ability to motivate and mentor students.
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for equity, diversity, and inclusion best practices in the classroom.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures, especially with Indigenous communities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written & oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion with student records.
  • Efficient, accurate teamwork skills.
  • Promote and foster independence in students.
  • Valid B.C. driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
