Building Service Worker Certificate – Instructor (On-Call) Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for non-regular Instructors to teach the Building Service Worker Certificate program on an on-call basis as required (weekdays, evenings, and weekends). The on-call period will commence July 6, 2026 and end August 31, 2027. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale (range: $37.55 and $66.37 hourly).

Duties: The successful candidate(s) will develop and instruct courses based on a supplied overview of content for each level. This position is based out of Terrace; however, there will be instances where travel to other communities within the CMTN region may be necessary. Courses:

CEPSTR 760 – Courses included:

• CEPSTR 702 Building Service Worker Level 1 (20 hours)
• CEPSTR 703 Building Service Worker Level 2 (20 hours)

Qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma and ideally post-secondary training related to this field. Preference will be given to candidates currently working in all aspects of commercial cleaning (including floor cleaning and maintenance) in the Janitorial/Custodial field as an owner/operator. A Provincial Instructor's Diploma and/or Train the Trainer or ISS courses will be considered an asset. Required skills include organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to motivate and mentor adult learners.

Traditional teaching experience is not mandatory, although a combination of education, training, and mentoring experience will be taken into consideration.

Applicants must also demonstrate an understanding of the culture and worldview of Indigenous people and the barriers Indigenous students face in accessing and succeeding in post-secondary education.
