Coast Mountain College (CMTN),
Terrace, Smithers and Prince Rupert Campus, invites applications for a regular full‑time Learning Transformation Specialist – Indigenization (LTS‑I) role commencing August 17, 2026. We are seeking a passionate individual who wants to join us in our goal to become the college of choice for experiential, place‑based learning allowing students to learn both in the classroom and in the spectacular outdoor spaces that are so unique to this part of Canada.

Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale ($37.55 – $53.80 per hour).

Duties: The LTS‑I will establish and promote pathways for the integration of Indigenous epistemologies into CMTN’s professional practice, including: the integration of Indigenous material and context, as well as teaching and learning techniques and perspectives in the classroom to integrate Indigenous worldviews with Western perspectives.

Duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Work in collaboration with the Centre of Learning Transformation team
  • Coordinate and liaise with Indigenous community‑based practicum providers/partnerships
  • Collaborate with the Indigenous Advisor to the President’s office to coordinate and deliver cultural awareness teaching and training opportunities
  • Contribute to CMTN’s Aboriginal, Course Program Articulation Committee (ACPAC)
  • Liaise with First Nations Council (FNC) and the Indigenous Knowledge Committee and ACPAC
  • Liaise and collaborate with the provincial Indigenous Articulation Committee
  • Create measures and monitor improvements in teaching and within each course and program discipline
  • Present reports to First Nations Council as required
Qualifications

Qualifications/

Skills:

A Master’s degree in Education, or First Nations Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences or a related discipline along with experience working with Indigenous worldview in a post‑secondary setting. An equivalent combination of education, skills, and extensive experience will be considered.

  • Demonstrated strong link, knowledge, and involvement in local indigenous culture
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate projects
  • A background in Indigenization in post‑secondary education
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication (written & oral) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a motivational learning environment
  • A valid B.C. driver’s license (with a clean driver’s abstract)
