The salary range for this position is $90K to $140K per annum. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Your Role
  • Technical Lead for Geotechnical projects along with training and mentoring EIT's
  • Lead and manage geotechnical projects from scoping through to construction support, ensuring on time, on budget delivery.
  • Plan, conduct and supervise site investigations (drilling, CPT, sampling, instrumentation) and coordinate field teams.
  • Evaluate subsurface conditions and geotechnical properties to design shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and embankments.
  • Perform slope stability, embankment and pavement assessments and prepare practical remediation or design solutions.
  • Carry out dam safety reviews and develop remediation designs where required.
  • Analyze field and laboratory data and prepare clear, well structured technical reports, recommendations and design documents for clients and regulators.
  • Prepare proposals, estimates and resource schedules; manage technical field staff and subcontractors.
  • Provide senior technical review and mentor junior engineers and technicians, promoting quality and best practices.
  • Maintain effective client and stakeholder communication, support permitting and regulatory coordination, and represent Tetra Tech professionally.
  • Work in compliance with internal procedures, industry standards, and applicable legislation; maintain strong health & safety practices on site and in the office.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and stay current with geotechnical methods, codes and guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support project and business needs.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering (required). Graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is an asset.
  • 7–10+ years preferred for stronger seniority.
  • Consulting experience and proven ability to manage client relationships and multi discipline project teams is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and supervising geotechnical investigations and writing technical reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Strong technical skills in foundation design (shallow & deep), slope stability, earthworks, and remediation design.
  • Experience with dam safety assessments, instrumentation monitoring and interpreting field data is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Geo Studio (or equivalent geotechnical analysis tools) and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with other modelling or GIS tools is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong report writing ability, and comfort presenting to clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior staff, prioritize workload, and work independently with sound professional judgment.
  • Eligible or registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia (or eligible to obtain registration). Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and possess a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.
