Stantec has opportunities for intermediate-level practitioners to help lead our environmental assessment and permitting projects. Working with our biological, physical sciences, human environment, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and contributing to environmental assessments and permitting activities for a variety of projects. These projects will be in the ports and marine, transportation and infrastructure, oil and gas, mining, or power sectors.

This position is focused on providing technical support for environmental planning studies, management plans, and regulatory permit applications. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity for client-facing roles, as well as leading and managing tasks.

This role is located in Terrace, British Columbia.

• Managing completion of multidisciplinary environmental deliverables included but not limited to environmental constraints analysis, effects assessment sections, permit applications, environmental management plans and permit compliance documents
• Authoring regulatory and technical sections of applications as well as technical reports Contributing to proposals (strategy, schedule and budget development and management) and client engagement activities (conferences, workshops, and other networking opportunities)
• Providing technical direction and mentoring to staff and receiving technical direction from senior reviewers/ practitioners
• Building collaborative relationships with other Stantec staff, including Stantec’s national Assessment and Permitting team
• Providing clients and project teams with advice on regulatory and technical issues Supporting engagement activities with regulators, Indigenous groups, communities, and stakeholders as part of the project design, environmental assessment and permitting process
• Supporting the local Stantec office and other offices, as needed, with executing field programs and writing technical deliverables
• Implementing Stantec’s quality assurance and quality control procedures on all project deliverables
• Promoting a strong health and safety culture and actively participating in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment Program

• Strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences and technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agencies
• Knowledgeable of the federal and provincial environmental assessment process and experience working on environmental assessments
• Knowledgeable of and experienced with federal and/or provincial permitting requirements
• Practical knowledge of environmental mitigation and best management practices
• Demonstrated technical writing skills and strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with multiple teams and on multiple deadlines
