ROLE PURPOSE
This position will provide casework and clinical support to residents of Connective’s programs in order to enhance their quality of life, to ensure the orderly and safe operation of the facility, and to maintain the goals of the counselling and/or rehabilitative plans.
Connective is seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual who will provide supportive care and assist in daily living activities of clients in accordance with the client’s care plan.
STATUS AND CLASSIFICATIONUnionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.
HOURSDay: 0800 - 1600
Evening: 1600 - 0000
Overnight: 0000 - 0800
Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month. If you are working full‑time, or if you are a full‑time student, we ask you to provide 15 shifts of availability.
These positions require the ability to work flexible hours during the daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs.

ACCOUNTABILITIES Residential
- Providing hands‑on supportive care services to residents.
- Provide direct assistance and support to residents as required, including assistance with all activities of daily living such as:
- Hygiene support and grooming needs, including doing resident’s laundry and dealing with soiled laundry and/or bedding.
- Mobility support and community interactions as needed.
- Meal preparation and serving.
- Maintain environmental cleanliness by performing housekeeping and cleaning tasks.
- Following the established resident service plan, always working with the resident regarding preferred times and method of service assistance.
- Accurately maintaining required resident care, medication management and changes to care and support needs records.
- Provide input regarding resident support requirements and discuss changes with Program Manager and Team.
- Provide ethical and respectful companionship to residents, while facilitating and encouraging resident participation in housekeeping assistance as required.
- Accompany clients to pre‑approved locations such as walks, clients’ doctor’s office, or hospital.
- Administer simple prescribed medications and meals.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Monitoring patients and maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting mobility‑challenged residents and facilitating assigned physical therapies/exercises.
- Supervises the activities of the residence, its residents, and volunteers while on shift, including maintaining case notes and the logbook.
- Monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility, including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory and food services.
- Provides input into meal scheduling and preparation, including food inventory.
- Ensures the security of the residence.
- As assigned, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining housekeeping areas and the upkeep of the facility both inside and outside; involves residents in this process when deemed appropriate.
- As assigned, is responsible for the weekly grocery shopping for the residence and involves residents in this process.
- As assigned, assists with the details of the operation of the facility, including but not limited to administrative support.
- As assigned, organizes and oversees the preparation of meals and involves residents in this process.
- Accepts responsibility of being on‑call and carrying the residence pager as necessary.
- Accompanies residents to appointments and community outings, following the restrictions imposed by courts or review panels.
