Position: REGISTERED NURSE (RN), CRITICAL CARE )

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Ksyen Regional Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model. The Registered Nurse – Emergency, working collaboratively with the interprofessional team, plans and provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to clients with various complex health care issues, from non-urgent to life threatening, to patients in the Emergency department.

The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

  • Shift Rotation/Hours of work:
    Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)

  • Responsibilities

    The Registered Nurse – Emergency collaborates with the interprofessional team to provide direct patient care to patients with varying health care needs in the Emergency department. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care; applying clinical judgment; providing patient- and family-centered care; and ensuring adherence to professional practice standards and ethical guidelines.

    Qualifications
    • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
    • Completion of a recognized Emergency Nursing specialty program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
    Skills and Abilities
    • Current cardiac monitoring skills.
    • Ability to determine and deal with emergency situations and make appropriate clinical decisions.
    • Ability to initiate intravenous therapy and maintain IV lines.
    • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide nursing care through prescribed interventions.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff, and the interprofessional team using verbal, written, and computer communication.
    • Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data to problem-solve effectively.
    • Ability to promote person-focused care, empathy, cultural sensitivity, patient advocacy, and social justice considerations.
    • Ability to transmit information to instruct patients, families, and others about essential health topics.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
    • Support for staff morale, collaboration, change management, and ongoing professional development.
    • Use of evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary knowledge to inform decisions.
    • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
