Position: REGISTERED NURSE (RN), OUTPATIENT SUBSTANCE USE WITHDRAWAL & STABILIZATION )

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary care team and partners, and reporting to the Program Lead Specialized Services, the Nurse engages in the provision of wholistic, person-centered and recovery-oriented care in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

The Nurse provides services to clients in their homes, communities, and/or clinics, partnering with the individual, family, and care team to develop a plan of personal care and intervention to assist the individual in managing the medical symptoms of substance use withdrawal and/or stabilization.

Responsibilities

The nurse performs assessment and monitoring, delivers nursing care through clinical and diagnostic reasoning, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and upholds professional standards in all patient interactions.

Qualifications
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing individual assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate / prescribed technical, therapeutic, and safety type interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, and computer communication means.
  • Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data from multiple sources to problem solve effectively.
  • Ability to promote individualized care that demonstrates sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy, and social justice concerns.
  • Ability to create culturally safe, trauma-informed health care settings through individualized care planning and collaborative service approaches, including Indigenous Health Services when applicable.
  • Ability to transmit information intended to instruct individuals and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
  • Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others and collaboration across disciplines.
  • Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness, and risk-taking; plans for change and innovation, implements NH policies, and supports ongoing career development.
  • Uses factual information, prior learning, and basic principles to support evidence-based decisions and actions.
  • Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines, humanities, arts, and sciences into professional practice.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including relevant computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
