Position Summary

The laboratory of Associate Professor Scott Canfield at Indiana University School of Medicine – Terre Haute, is seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a pioneering research project within the framework of our recently NIH funded Micro physiological Systems to Advance Precision Medicine for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (MAP-AD). This innovative and multidisciplinary project aims to develop brain organoids derived from human iPSCs- to study vascular dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Project

Overview

Leveraging newly developed brain organoid models, this project will:

  • Utilize human iPSC lines from AD patients to develop multiple tiered brain organoid models.
  • Investigate vascular dysfunction and neuroinflammation in three-dimensional cellular models.
  • Utilize cutting-edge techniques including confocal microscopy, physiological and shear flow, and artificial intelligence systems to enable functional phenotyping of the MAP-AD models.
  • Improve translational micro physiological systems models to improve AD outcomes.

Basic Qualifications
  • A PhD in the life sciences
  • A solid background in cell culture and tissue engineering approaches
  • Knowledge in Neuroscience and Stem Cell Research
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary research environment
  • Proven scientific writing and publishing experience
  • A strong commitment to building a career in brain barriers biology
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
