EPIC Analyst Ambulatory

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Certified Epic Ambulatory Analyst to build, configure, and optimize Epic’s Ambulatory module supporting outpatient clinical workflows. This role ensures Epic Ambulatory is tailored to meet provider, nurse, and staff needs across multiple specialties while maintaining compliance, efficiency, and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities- System Build & Configuration
- Design, build, and maintain Epic Ambulatory workflows, templates, preference lists, Smart Forms, and Smart Sets.
- Configure specialty‑specific outpatient workflows (family medicine, internal medicine, surgical specialties, pediatrics, etc.).
- Support clinical decision support tools, best practice advisories (BPAs), and order sets within Ambulatory.
- Clinical Workflow Optimization
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to identify workflow improvement opportunities.
- Translate clinical practice requirements into Epic Ambulatory system design.
- Ensure smooth integration with other Epic modules (Orders, Clin Doc, Cadence, MyChart, Beacon, Radiant, etc.).
- Testing & Upgrades
- Develop and execute test plans for upgrades, patches, and new Epic releases.
- Participate in integrated testing (IST) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for Ambulatory workflows.
- Document configuration, testing, and validation steps.
- Training & Support
- Provide Tier 2/3 application support for Ambulatory end‑users.
- Develop end‑user training guides, job aids, and tip sheets.
- Support go‑live events, workflow adoption, and optimization projects.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure Ambulatory workflows comply with regulatory standards (CMS, HIPAA, Joint Commission, Meaningful Use).
- Assist in creating and maintaining reporting/analytics to support clinical operations and quality initiatives.
- Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Informatics, Health IT, or related field preferred.
- Epic Ambulatory certification required (candidates without certification will not be considered).
- Additional Epic certifications (Orders, Clin Doc, MyChart, Cadence) a plus.
- Experience
- 2–4 years of Epic build/support experience in Ambulatory.
- Prior experience working in clinical environments or supporting outpatient clinics highly desirable.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinical workflows across multiple specialties.
- Skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to translate clinical needs into Epic technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging providers and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Clinical background (RN, Pharm
D, PA, or similar) with direct ambulatory care experience. - Prior participation in an Epic implementation, optimization, or upgrade project.
- Experience with clinical decision support design (BPAs, Smart Sets).
- Familiarity with MyChart workflows and patient portal integration.
