Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Flexibility to work any shift and location on an as-needed basis.
- Continual development of good oral and written communication skills
- Continual effort to gain knowledge and skills in educating consumers in daily living skills
- Continual development of observation and decision-making skills
- Willingness to use personal transportation in work capacity.
- Completion of Consumer Care Hour expectation as designated per job title in accordance with company guidelines.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with HCI motor vehicle policy
- Maintain current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Maintain current American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- Assists consumers walking to and from activities.
- Lifts and carries up to 25 pounds.
- Exposure to disturbed and potentially aggressive patients possible. Stress ranges from low to intense depending on the situation.
- Physical strength necessary to implement CPI interventions.
- Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing ladders, bending, stooping as required to assist with patient care.
- Monitors consumers safe onboarding and offboarding into transportation vehicles.
- Participates in group activities/yard games.
Subject to change depending on scheduled location. Conditions will vary depending on the continuum of treatment from hospital, residential, and community settings.
- Overtime rate after 40 working hours
- On call schedule in support of crisis
- Nights and weekends periodically
- Satisfactory reference and background investigation checks
- Completion of a pre-employment drug screening and completion of post-employment drug or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use
- Completion of tuberculin screening no later than three days prior to first day of employment and annually thereafter
- Completion of MMR, Varicella, influenza and coronavirus vaccine
- Completion of Center-wide new employee orientation and ALL required paperwork prior to reporting for work
- Completion of HCI’s Commitment to Quality Training, Trauma Informed Care, and e-learning.
- Successful completion of Mental Health First Aid
- Attendance at all mandatory staff development & training
- Complete Recovery Works Training where applicable
- Successful completion of a six month on the job orientation period
- Successful completion of Initial Competency Assessment within first 30 days of employment
- Successful completion of New Employee Department Checklist within 90 days of employment
- Annual restraint training (IPU staff only)
- Participation in payroll electronic deposit
- Adherence to Compliance Program Plan
