The OSP Technician III operates mid-level machinery and begins mentoring junior technicians. This technician will be expected to understand full site preparation and restoration processes and complete customer-facing installation work.

OSP Supervisor

• Independently operates excavators (e.g., vacuum and mini excavators) around marked utilities.
• Operates tracking equipment for directional bores.
• Locates and interprets job sites using company software.
• Logs daily work activity using company tools.
• Guides level I and II OSP Technicians in task execution.
• Supports team with material transport/setup, maintain clean and safe work sites, and perform restoration work.
• Driving duties include conveying materials, equipment, or staff to and from work sites and meeting necessary FMCSA requirements (includes passing the DOT physical).

• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
• Ability to evaluate situations and adjust to changing priorities.
• Ability to learn fiber optic construction practices.
• Basic understanding of directional drill tractor operations.
• Knowledge and skill in operation of basic hand tools and light machinery.
• Independently identifies marked utilities.
• Proficient with locating and cutting equipment.

• Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to a Joink office (currently within Illinois: Taylorville, Hillsboro; Indiana: Terre Haute).
• Clean driving record.
• Must be able to work overtime with and without notice.
• 1+ years in outside plant construction or equivalent experience.
• Class A CDL required.
• Able to interpret basic site drawings.

• 40 hours per week with mandatory overtime on Fridays.
• Voluntary Saturdays.
• Must participate in on-call rotation.
• Almost exclusively outside, year-round, in all weather conditions.
• Must be willing to travel to other Joink regions 10-15% of the time, with occasional overnight stays.

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 75 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
