Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager the incumbent is responsible for operating a backhoe to assist with snow removal and other winter maintenance tasks.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate backhoe equipment safely and efficiently for snow removal and other winter maintenance tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues.
- Clear snow and ice from roads, sidewalks, bus stops, and any drainage components in accordance with project specifications.
- Collaborate with team supervisor and other team members to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with de-icing and salting operations as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report progress and any obstacles encountered to the supervisor.
As Required
- Traffic control setup and removal.
- Transport crew and equipment to work sites.
- Required to be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Effectively communicate (in English); both orally and in writing with co-workers and supervisor.
- Perform basic mathematical functions.
- Consistently follow all policies and procedures.
- Understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
