The Team Member is a business partner responsible for ensuring each customer experience meets or exceeds expectations. The Team Member guarantees each customer a hot, freshly‑prepared product of the highest quality ingredients, made to order and promptly served in a clean, friendly restaurant.

Responsibilities Leadership and Communication
  • Protect and promote the Whataburger Brand at all times.
  • Notify a member of the management team with sufficient lead time when unable to report to work as scheduled.
  • Check with management prior to leaving the restaurant at the scheduled time.
  • Recognize and communicate customer service problems to the manager on duty.
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as required by management.
  • Submit requests for work schedule changes according to management guidelines.

  • Ensure all products are prepared according to quality standards and delivered within Whataburger service time standards, with a “no excuses” mentality.
  • Support food production through the preparation and stocking of various food items as directed by a member of management.
  • Promote excellence in customer relations to the rest of the team.
  • Perform maintenance tasks as scheduled or assigned.
  • Actively participate in all current sales promotions/marketing events during work time.
  • Operate all designated food production or customer service stations, as directed.
  • Learn and apply the correct location for all items stored and used, such as food products, paper products, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Achieve certification at the specific stations associated with a position.
  • Accurately state all Whataburger menu items, product ingredients, and when these items are available for sale to our customers.
  • Stock the drink, fry, dining room stations, and grill area to assure continuous service is maintained.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper storage procedures upon delivery of all produce items, practicing FIFO.
  • Efficiently prepare all produce items to maintain proper par levels, using appropriate food handling, rotation (FIFO), and storage procedures.
  • Maintain sufficient amounts of prepped produce for the next shift.
  • Efficiently prepare the needed products as assigned using proper handling, rotation, and storage procedures.
  • Follow established recipes for preparing and serving Whataburger’s products.
  • Maintain all utensils and food production equipment in good working order by using correct cleaning, sharpening, and storage procedures at all times.
  • Follow correct procedures for lifting and carrying heavy items.
  • Mop spills or leaks quickly to prevent accidents.
  • Notify the management person on duty of any leaks or equipment failures such as refrigerators/freezers not maintaining proper temperatures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper handling and storage of all sanitizing and cleaning chemicals.
  • Cleans customer service areas following proper procedures directed by management, including outside landscaping, building entrances, dining room tables, condiment stations, restrooms, and food production and storage units.
  • Dispose of all trash properly.
  • Achieve certification in all cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
