- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with video gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and thank guests for shopping at Game Stop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including providing receipts and ensuring high-quality guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in company policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
- Provide recognition and feedback to store associates and document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- In partnership with the Store Manager, ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before opening/closing shifts. Ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks/meals, and maintain optimum guest service levels.
- Approve payroll, enter time off, and verify pay for all time worked.
- Keep store areas clean, organized, and merchandised per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products to ensure representation and accessibility on the sales floor.
- Balance daily transactions, complete closeout paperwork, and manage cash and bank deposits as required.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and report discrepancies to management.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
- Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records and provide up-to-date manuals.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
