This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 30 hours per week.
The Learning and Development Team supports a range of structured training, education and professional development programmes for staff at all levels and staff working in other organisations and workplaces.
The Practice Education (collaborating with the Apprenticeship and Widening Participation Team) team manages all student and healthcare programme apprentice placements within the Trust and promotes quality of patient care through continuing education of all members of staff and students.
The practice education team indirectly supports students by providing direct support for practice supervisors and assessors and all other staff involved in learning and assessment to develop quality‑assured placements for students.
The Practice Education Facilitator will support practice educators in practice, design and share educational resources, and (if appropriate) clinical skills and their expert knowledge, engaging with Practice Educators to identify how students can be encouraged to embrace every opportunity to apply theory or evidence base to practice and interact with multidisciplinary team members and service users/patients from a positive and informed position.
Mainduties of the job
- Co‑ordinate and develop non‑medical clinical placements across the organisation
- Ensure compliance with the organisation's and/or One Gloucestershire's Learning and Development Agreement and other educational contracts
- Ensure practice supervisors and practice assessors are developed to support non‑medical learners in practice
- Ensure sufficient, suitably qualified practice supervisors and practice assessors are available to support practice learning and maintain and sustain an up‑to‑date data register for the organisation which reflects the needs of the learner numbers and placements
- Work with academic colleagues from higher and further education providing training and practice support to ensure registered practitioners are supported to act as appropriate practice supervisors and practice assessors to non‑medical clinical students
- Current NMC Professional Registration
- First degree or evidence of studying at this level
- Proven evidence of recent and ongoing CPD and understanding of revalidation requirements
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification at degree level e.g. mentorship or equivalent experience in teaching/assessing
- Experience of working in an NHS provider setting
- Knowledge of community services provision across physical health, learning disability and mental health for adults and children
- Demonstrable experience in supporting students in placement, mentoring and as a 'Practice Supervisor', 'Practice Assessor' or Educator
- Experience in teaching skills and/or knowledge to a diverse range of adults and/or children including students, service users, carers or relatives
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn key elements within the 'Future Nurse' educational standards and ability to translate these into practice
- An understanding of what is required to contribute to a culture of learning incorporating the standards of The Safe Learning Environment Charter and principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Experience and knowledge of working with Higher Education Institutions and NHS England
