Salary: £30,000 - £40,000approx + relocation assistance if required (salary is for juniors but were open to experience staff where we obviously pay more!)
Tech Stack: electronic component handling and fault finding
WFH policy is 15 days per calendar quarter - this is the '25% of working time'.
Job SummaryDue a retirement we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electronics Technician to support R&D product development and testing as well as Operational fault finding and repair activities.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience working at component level, with the ability to inspect, assemble, and troubleshoot electronic systems to a high standard.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in electronics who enjoys problem-solving, continuous improvement, and working within both R&D and repair environments.
We would like to consider candidates with some level of electronic component handling and fault finding (2-3yrs) but we do not need a seasoned technician for this position.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with prototype builds and development activities within the R&D function
- Carry out manual soldering and de-soldering of through-hole and surface mount components in line with IPC standards
- Perform inspection, repair, and rework of electronic assemblies to component level
- Conduct fault finding and diagnostics on electronic circuits and assemblies
- Interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and technical documentation to support repair and R&D activities
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and industry best practices, including IPC-A-610 requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, modifications, and test results
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and repair efficiency
- Work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams
- Relevant qualification in electronics or electrical engineering (HNC/HND)
- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and technical drawings
- Strong hands‑on skills in manual soldering and assembly, including fine‑pitch SMD work
- Proven experience in electronic component inspection, fault finding and testing
- Experience working to IPC-A-610 standards (certification preferred)
- Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi‑meters, and signal generators
- High level of attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Experience with in industrial automation and control systems
- Exposure of servo drives and motion control systems
- Exposure to robotics systems and associated electronics
