My client is looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their expanding team. You will work out of their purpose-built facility located on the edge of Gloucester. The successful candidate will ensure assemblies are manufactured correctly to specification and on time.
The role has arisen through growth and the opportunity is in place for someone to develop exiting skills and learn new ones.
Key Responsibilities- To fit and assemble machine parts accurately to engineering drawing.
- To accurately fit sub assembly parts using engineering drawings.
- Use hand tools and power tools to fit and assemble components.
- Use pillar drills, deburring tools and grinding wheels safely where necessary.
- Use engineering measuring equipment where necessary to ensure components are to specification.
- Drill and tap components when necessary.
- Ensure all torque requirements are met and marked as per procedure.
- Fit / pipe pneumatic and water circuits using either copper or plastic pipe work.
- Strip / prepare machines and tooling for painting and despatch.
- Install machines at customer sites as necessary overseas.
- Ensure safe systems of work are always adhered to and ensure any issues are reported immediately to management.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and stored safely.
- Ensure all non-conforming parts or design issues are reported in a timely manner using NCR/ECR forms.
- Mechanical Apprenticeship.
- Proven ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ability to read pneumatics drawings advantageous.
- Flexibility to travel abroad to customers if required.
- Proven effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
