Production Support Technician
Tewkesbury
- Permanent
- Full Time - up to £46,000
- Provide hands‑on technical engineering support to CNC machining and production teams
- Support the introduction of new and existing products into manufacture
- Identify and resolve engineering issues before and during production
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and support to machinists
- Improve machining processes to increase efficiency and machine utilisation
- Support CNC programming and programme optimisation
- Use CAD/CAM systems to support production requirements
- Review tooling, manufacturing methods and machining processes
- Carry out gap analysis and support accurate ERP system updates
- Apply structured problem‑solving and continuous‑improvement techniques
- Support non‑conformance processes and raise NCRs where required
- Work closely with Production, Operations and Planning to resolve bottlenecks
- Support familiarisation and technical training where required
- Strong technical engineering background within a precision machining environment
- Extensive knowledge of CNC machine capabilities and production processes
- Multi‑axis CNC machining experience
- Experience setting work, selecting tooling and editing CNC programmes
- Strong knowledge of tooling and its application
- Experience machining complex precision components
- Experience working with difficult‑to‑machine materials
- Strong understanding of GD&T
- Ability to self‑inspect components and measure critical tolerances/features
- Good understanding of CNC programming codes
- Ability to coach and support machinists
- Strong problem‑solving and continuous‑improvement mindset
- Apprentice trained within a mechanical engineering discipline
- CAD/CAM experience
- hyperMILL programming experience
- Solid Works modelling/design experience
- New Product Introduction experience
- Experience with configuration management and engineering change processes
- ERP systems experience
- SMED / machining continuous‑improvement experience
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or similar qualification
- Technical role with real influence over machining and production performance
- Work on complex precision‑engineered components
- Opportunity to mentor and develop machinists
- Involvement in NPI, process improvement and manufacturing engineering
- Broad role combining CNC expertise, CAD/CAM and problem solving
- Opportunity to drive improvements rather than simply operate machinery
