Responsibilities
  • Be concerned with all aspects involving teaching and student learning and provide instruction in accordance with the college’s philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines.
  • Provide assessment of student learning in classes and use this assessment to improve instruction.
  • Acquaint students with course requirements, including how grades are determined, during the first week of class and provide periodic evaluations of their progress.
  • Meet scheduled classes, follow appropriate syllabi, and attend faculty, committee, and division meetings.
  • Prepare thoroughly for each class period.
  • Display professional mannerisms in conduct and appearance whether teaching day or evening classes.
  • Hold ten office hours per week for student consultation and post hours so students can easily know them.
  • Serve as an advisor to students majoring in the instructor’s teaching discipline or an assigned area.
  • Maintain accurate class rolls and attendance records of students enrolled in classes and submit required reports to Student Services.
  • Emphasize to all classes the importance of prompt, regular, and continuous attendance.
  • Submit the names of all students who may need scholastic counseling and/or personal counseling to the Vice Chancellor for Student Services.
  • Prepare and submit to the Enrollment Services office the grade of each student enrolled in classes at the close of each grade report period.
  • Accept registration duty assignments from the administration.
  • Submit curriculum changes or new curriculum to the dean for review in a timely manner.
  • Recommend textbook changes in consultation with the dean.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor and/or sponsor to student organizations when requested.
  • Report all irregularities, questions, or problems concerning instruction to the dean and/or Vice Chancellor for Academics.
  • Participate in commencement exercises in academic dress, unless previously excused.
  • Maintain current credentials on file with the Vice Chancellor for Academics and in Human Resources.
  • Abide by the regulations in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Attend and support the activities of the College.
  • Participate in professional activities to stay current in discipline.
  • Assume special duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Academics or designated representative.
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Registered Nurse, Associate Degree.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor Degree, Previous teaching experience.
Salary

Base $35,800.00, commensurate with education and experience.
