Position: Field Service Engineer I

Field Service Engineer I at Honeywell

Honeywell’s Field Service Technicians are responsible for effectively providing services to support the on‑site installation, start‑up, maintenance, and operation of automation control systems, advanced manufacturing software applications, drive systems, manufacturing systems, industrial networks, and the individual products which comprise these systems.

You will focus on providing customers with maintenance and modernization services on Honeywell’s QCS Platforms. The role requires you to be self‑supporting and includes on‑site maintenance, performing system diagnostics & analysis, troubleshooting problems, installing new systems, and replacing parts. You will report directly to our Field Service Engineering Manager and will work out of our Valliant, OK location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Honeywell’s suite of (QCS) quality control hardware and software and handle customer questions about the state of the system.
  • Sustain proficiency in all products and services that the company offers. This includes staying current with installation standard methodologies, equipment protocol, and safety guidelines.
  • Provide on‑site pre‑start‑up, start‑up, contracted service work, warranty, troubleshooting, and training of Honeywell products, and ensure equipment is operational and free of defects.
  • Accurately document the work that is performed at a customer facility and/or project staging area. Professionally document work completed on periodic preventive maintenance as well as intermittent corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Handle customer service‑related issues while fostering the customer relationship and working to solve technical problems on site.
  • Deal directly with and communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, 3rd‑party vendors and other Honeywell personnel in support of service operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment applying own technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems.
  • Review product prints and specifications.
  • When required, play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, new installations or new functionality for customers.
  • Work with contractors to review and ensure the unit/package is installed to specifications.
  • Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments.
Qualifications – YOU MUST HAVE
  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of professional experience in an engineering or technical field, or military experience in electronics programs (may be considered equivalent).
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and stand 8 hours per day.
  • 1 year of experience using Basic Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be able to perform frequent climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.

  • Associate’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Technology
  • Ability to work safely within Honeywell/Customer HSE requirements.
  • Commitment to obtain and maintain L3 CEAT certification within 18 months of hire (training is provided).
  • Experience with industrial process control field instrumentation.
  • Networking experience.
  • Previous experience working in a Field Service Technician position.
  • Previous technical/installation experience.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills; capable of learning available analysis tools to solve complex system or process problems.
