OverviewSummary:
Under supervision, the incumbent provides professional nursing care to clinic patients. Works collaboratively with providers within the team to facilitate quality patient care.
- Performs general nursing care to patients and administers treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Assists with preparation of equipment and supports providers during treatment, examinations, and testing.
- Observes, records, and reports patients' condition and response to drugs or treatments to providers.
- Oversees appointment bookings and ensures urgent preferences are respected, maintaining a timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients, obtains documented medical history and vitals, prepares patients for exams, and instructs patients in sample collection and testing.
- Performs additional tasks within scope of practice, including vital signs, initial assessments, specimen collection, wound care, administration of medications (oral, topical, inhaled, etc.), and other procedures as permitted by licensure and training.
- May perform tasks after appropriate training and under supervision: blood collection, injections, breathing treatments, audiometry, EKG, suture/staple removal, and other specified procedures.
- Coordinates patient testing and admissions; responds to telephone calls, refills, and prescriptions per provider instructions.
- Formulates and updates patient care plans, orders and reviews charts, posts test results, and communicates instructions to patients.
- Maintains patient files and ensures accurate documentation according to policies; prepares exam rooms and restocks treatment areas.
- Participates in meetings and committees as requested and engages in ongoing professional development; maintains licensure and affiliations.
- Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and CHRISTUS Health policies; protects patient privacy and maintains confidentiality; supports CHRISTUS Health's mission and ethics, including cultural diversity objectives.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Education/
Skills:
Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing. - Experience:
Previous medical office experience preferred. - Licenses/Certifications:
Valid state license to practice nursing;
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
5 days, 8 hours per day
