. The position involves planning and conducting metal fabrication, welding, and maintenance work on mobile industrial equipment, with a focus on quality, safety, and compliance.
- Perform journeyman welding in maintenance and repair shops on parts and bodies for mobile industrial equipment.
- Plan, layout, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair metal body parts necessary to recondition and modify mobile and non-mobile equipment.
- Modify body parts and install items required by various Maintenance Work Order Requests (MWORs) such as cabs, cowls, aprons, doors, bodies, hoods, and various metal containers and frames.
- Provide coordination, on‑the‑job assistance, and limited technical direction to employees performing similar work.
- Plan and schedule work from authorized work orders and perform quality assurance and quality control functions during the process and upon completion.
- Perform routine and non‑routine troubleshooting, problem identification, and resolution.
- Respond to various types of emergencies and provide assistance as appropriate based on skills, knowledge, and ability.
- Perform all other position‑related duties as assigned or requested.
Typical shop environment with no unusual hazards; frequent lifting of 20–50 pounds, kneeling, standing, walking; routine sitting; constant use of speech and hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; requires planning and organizing skills and ability to work under deadlines.
Other Responsibilities:- Safety – Enforce a safety culture by completing all training requirements, participating in emergency response tasks, and serving on safety committees and teams.
- Quality – Consistently deliver services that meet customer expectations and understand Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction responsibilities.
- Procedure Compliance – Read, understand, and implement all general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to this job.
- High school diploma or GED with specific training and thorough knowledge in facility maintenance, plus broad knowledge of other disciplines such as general math.
- Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable work experience in the metal mechanic field.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment test of structural welding abilities based on customer requirements, prints, and materials used.
- Good written and spoken communication and analytical skills and working knowledge of basic computer systems and software programs.
- Valid and current state driver’s license.
- Ability to use Technical Manuals.
- Ability to complete paperwork associated with vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to manipulate and use hand tools and hydraulic equipment.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Passing a pre‑employment drug screen and a government background check is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check (NAC) within 60 days of hire if required and have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be available for any shift, willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Work on this contract is performed at the Red River Army Depot. Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.
