Roadway Maintenance Section Supervisor – Texarkana, TX (Job Code 2503490)

Position Summary TxDOT’s Atlanta District is seeking a dedicated Roadway Maintenance Section Supervisor in Texarkana, TX to lead roadway maintenance operations and ensure safe, reliable travel for our communities. In this role, you’ll oversee skilled crews, manage resources, and coordinate projects that keep our roads, bridges, and rights‑of‑way in top condition. We’re looking for a hands‑on leader with strong problem‑solving skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to inspire a team to deliver excellence every day.

Salary

Minimum: $69,572.00;
Maximum: $;
Anticipated Starting: $80,000.00 to $96,000.00 yearly.

Texarkana Area Office / Mnt Sect 520 SOWELL LANE, Texarkana, TX 75501. Travel: 10% of the time. Shift: Day. Shift Details: 40 Hours. Flexibility:

Responsibilities
  • Oversee a maintenance section and ensure a safe driving thoroughfare within a geographic area through the maintenance of all roads, structures, and rights‑of‑way.
  • Administer and inspect contracted maintenance activities.
  • Inspect road conditions, work‑in‑progress, and work completed by the crews and contractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement emergency response to inclement weather, flooding, accidents, and hazardous material spills affecting area roadways.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work project needs to include personnel, equipment, and material with the Area Engineer and other district staff on a regular basis.
  • Prepare and monitor the budget.
  • Prioritize and assign projects to the maintenance section assistant and crew chiefs; guide them in the planning and scheduling of personnel, materials, equipment, and necessary work; ensure projects follow established safety guidelines.
  • Maintain the operation and maintenance of light and heavy equipment.
  • Train other employees.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or equivalent in general high school studies.
  • 8 years roadway maintenance or construction‑related work (experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
  • Must have 3 years supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Must have a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “N” endorsement or have obtained “N” endorsement within 90 calendar days from date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with “N” endorsement.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Subject to extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour.
  • Subject to noise.

  • Subject to hazards: moving vehicles/mechanical parts, high places/heat, or chemicals.
  • Medium work: lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Balancing: walking, standing, crouching on various surfaces without falling.
  • Stooping: bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist.
  • Kneeling: bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee(s).
  • Crouching: bending body downward and forward by bending leg(s) and spine.
