Compensation GradeWe are looking for technically capable Outside Operators who embrace change, adapt fast, make decisions quickly, possess self‑confidence and leadership skills and are lifelong learners. This position will work in a Union environment.
After an individual applies and meets the minimum qualifications for the position, technical testing will be scheduled. Passing the technical testing is required to move forward through the hiring process. Interviews will be scheduled with select individuals based on position requirements. If an offer is made, the individual must then complete and pass a comprehensive physical function test, background check and drug screen to start work.
The current rates for this position range from $32.90 - $47.00
. Candidates are offered a rate depending on their years of direct relevant experience.
Major Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the monitoring and operation of plant process equipment used in the manufacturing process. The Outside Operator evaluates the unit’s operating status and performs troubleshooting of processes and equipment in order to maximize unit reliability and product quality. They document various operating parameters and maintain communication with others inside and outside of their department. The incumbent also monitors maintenance activities and performs minor maintenance.
The Outside Operator must be aware of and follow all safety and security guidelines according to Company policy and in compliance with all applicable environmental, safety and government regulations. The Outside Operator role supports and is cross trained in three areas within the position: PZ, Acetic Acid, Utilities and Support Areas.
The processor position is responsible for various duties associated with product manufacturing from raw material delivery to shipment of product that include the following:
- Responsible for personal safety, the safety of co‑workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with state and federal environmental regulations.
- Takes personal leadership role in daily activities, task planning, incident investigations and work performance as they relate to the site’s key focus areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality, Reliability, and Cost of operation.
- Responsible for gaining and maintaining process knowledge of the unit and process changes to the unit, to enable effective operation and detection of unusual process conditions; uses knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Responsible for taking readings, utilizing plant data/control systems and observing process conditions on a continual basis to maintain good control of the unit.
- Provides accurate and timely communication to co‑workers, and works with other functions to improve individual and unit performance. Provides ideas, raises concerns, and promotes an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.
- Responsible for performing minor maintenance on equipment.
- Responsible for placing systems in a safe condition for maintenance work through the Safe Work Permit process, supporting maintenance activities and communicating statuses.
- Ensure proper shift turnover by providing effective written and oral communications to the relieving shift that cover routine and non‑routine issues, problems faced, unit operating conditions, etc.
- Participating in process safety improvement through MOC process, PHAs, Incident Investigations, and other activities.
- Participating in training and assisting in the training of new employees.
- Responding to emergency situations as required.
- Applying statistical tools to enhance product quality and participating on improvement teams.
