Compensation GradeThe Instrument and Electrical Technician (Journeyman) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing instrumentation and electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Commit to following INEOS 20 Principles of Process & Behavioral Safety.
- Follow standard procedures to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and high‑quality work.
- Develop programs to reduce work‑related illnesses and injuries and improve operation productivity.
- Maintain strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Actively participate to maintain and improve safety performance.
- Promote continual improvement of safety and asset reliability through equipment, job plan, and procedure revisions.
- Improve maintenance processes and methods to reduce potential mistakes and defects.
- Collaborate with operations to resolve asset issues.
- Work with plant lighting, thermostat systems, and programmable controllers to repair and install instrumentation and electrical components.
- Perform tests, calibrations, and linearity checks to ensure accurate readings.
- Read electrical schematics, one‑line diagrams, ladder logic, manufacturer specifications, and blueprints.
- Support site profitability, regulatory compliance, and product quality through preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Troubleshoot asset performance issues, failures, and wear.
- Propose and lead changes to improve reliability and optimize cost.
- Use calibration software and computer‑aided calibrators for instrument calibration.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in a computerized maintenance management system.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing and functional testing of new installations.
- Attend training sessions to improve skills and familiarize with new equipment, repair, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Associate’s degree in Instrumentation or a related field.
- Completion of a 5‑year apprenticeship program.
- At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Good knowledge of digital, electronic, pneumatic instrumentation, controls, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Knowledge of motors, power and control circuits.
- Familiarity with smart transmitters, field devices, and relevant testing tools.
- Proficient with schematics, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, blueprints, and PID drawings.
- Functional knowledge of distributed control systems (e.g., Invensys I/A, Emerson Delta V) and programmable logic controllers (e.g., Modicon, Rockwell).
- Must possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment.
- Skills and training related to life‑critical processes: LOTO, system & process openings, working at heights, hot work, confined space entry, energized electrical work.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs:
Word, Excel, Outlook.
