Sr. Property Accountant

OverviewThe Sr. Property Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements for a portfolio of Homeowner and Condominium Associations. This role prepares comprehensive financial reporting packages, including but not limited to bank reconciliations, account and variance analysis, and all balance sheet supporting schedules.
This position requires a high level of professionalism and customer service while working cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders, including property managers and board members. The Sr. Property Accountant is expected to manage responsibilities independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to processing
- Prepare monthly Balance Sheets and Income Statements, including variance analysis and explanations
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
- Maintain prepaid expense and insurance schedules
- Prepare accrued expense schedules
- Create and maintain all balance sheet and income statement supporting schedules
- Review and analyze subsidiary ledgers for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare monthly journal entries and year-end entries as provided by external CPAs
- Communicate and collaborate with board members, property managers, and internal support teams
- Complete special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
- 5+ years of related accounting experience
- Demonstrated experience with full-cycle financial statement preparation
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build professional relationships
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with accounting software required
- Familiarity with Adobe Reader/Writer is a plus
- English required
- Multilingual proficiency is a plus
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive computer-based tasks
- Occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form
- Ability to navigate properties or buildings as needed to perform job duties
