Saturday & Sunday: 12:00am-4:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires a High School degree or GED. An associate’s degree or higher in a related field is a plus.
  • Experience working for a child Residential setting, Child‑Placing Agency or other related job experience is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience, preferably with teenagers, within the last 5 years.
  • Must be twenty‑two years of age or older.
PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Lead Direct Caregiver provides oversight and leadership to Direct Care Staff, ensuring that daily care and supervision of children meet Hope Haven’s standards of excellence. This role combines direct caregiving with staff guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance to maintain a safe, therapeutic, and Christ‑centered environment. The Lead Direct Caregiver serves as a liaison between Residential Management and the caregiving team, promoting communication, consistency, and compliance.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and support to assigned Direct Care Staff.
  • Ensure daily routines, schedules, safety checks, T3C assessments, and activities are followed according to program expectations.
  • Serve as a point of contact and shift leader when the Residential Manager is not on duty.
  • Assist staff in managing behaviors using approved trauma‑informed and de‑escalation techniques.
  • Provide and facilitate basic services to each child such as living arrangements, hygiene, meals, clothing, and transportation.
  • Ensure all Direct Care Staff maintain documentation in accordance with licensing and agency standards.
  • Assist in scheduling and ensuring adequate shift coverage for all residential programs including on‑call duties.
  • Participate in the training and onboarding of new Direct Care Staff.
  • Communicate & collaborate with GOH Program team and other staff as needed.
  • Oversee incident reporting and daily notes, ensuring reports are accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Monitor compliance with Minimum Standards, Hope Haven policies, and Residential Contract requirements.
  • Report suspected child abuse/neglect immediately to supervisor, licensing representative, or law enforcement.
  • Participate in 50 hours of annual training (some after hours/weekends may be required).
  • Responsible for the debit card checkout and receipt management according to the Hope Haven Credit Card Policies.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as requested.

    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to mentor and guide Direct Care Staff with professionalism and consistency.
    • Proficient in handling crisis situations using calm and effective responses.
    • Ability to recognize behavioral cues and intervene appropriately to maintain safety and order.
    • Strong knowledge of trauma‑informed care and positive youth development.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, children, and the public.
    • Exhibit patience, good judgment, and confidentiality in all situations.
    • Ability to work under moderate supervision and manage multiple priorities in stressful situations.
    • Physically capable of lifting forty (40) pounds and remaining alert during overnight hours.
    • Acknowledges and upholds Hope Haven’s Statement of Faith mission and responds appropriately to cultural differences among those served.
