DIRECTCARE STAFF LEAD
REPORTS TO:
Residential Manager
SUPERVISES:
Direct Care Staff
- Requires a High School degree or GED. An associate’s degree or higher in a related field is a plus.
- Experience working for a child Residential setting, Child‑Placing Agency or other related job experience is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience, preferably with teenagers, within the last 5 years.
- Must be twenty‑two years of age or older.
The Lead Direct Caregiver provides oversight and leadership to Direct Care Staff, ensuring that daily care and supervision of children meet Hope Haven’s standards of excellence. This role combines direct caregiving with staff guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance to maintain a safe, therapeutic, and Christ‑centered environment. The Lead Direct Caregiver serves as a liaison between Residential Management and the caregiving team, promoting communication, consistency, and compliance.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESSKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide Direct Care Staff with professionalism and consistency.
- Proficient in handling crisis situations using calm and effective responses.
- Ability to recognize behavioral cues and intervene appropriately to maintain safety and order.
- Strong knowledge of trauma‑informed care and positive youth development.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, children, and the public.
- Exhibit patience, good judgment, and confidentiality in all situations.
- Ability to work under moderate supervision and manage multiple priorities in stressful situations.
- Physically capable of lifting forty (40) pounds and remaining alert during overnight hours.
- Acknowledges and upholds Hope Haven’s Statement of Faith mission and responds appropriately to cultural differences among those served.
