Mine Service, Inc. is seeking an experienced HCSS / Heavy Job Business Systems Analyst to support our heavy civil construction operations.
This position is ideal for someone who already has hands-on experience using HCSS Heavy Job and understands how accurate field reporting, production tracking, labor and equipment costs, and job costing impact project profitability.
The successful candidate will serve as a key Heavy Job subject matter expert, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Accounting, and Operations to ensure our HCSS systems are being used accurately and effectively.
This is primarily an office-based position (approximately 70–80%), with regular jobsite visits to understand project activity, verify reporting, support field personnel, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of our project management processes.
The position will also provide an opportunity to grow into increased project management responsibilities for the right candidate.
What We're Looking For
HCSS Heavy Job experience is strongly preferred and will be a major factor in our selection process.
We are looking for someone who can step into the role with a working knowledge of HCSS Heavy Job rather than someone who will need to learn the system from the ground up.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, project controls, project engineering, estimating, construction administration, or a related field
- Hands-on experience using HCSS Heavy Job
- Experience with daily reports, production tracking, labor, equipment, materials, and cost coding
- Understanding of construction job costing and project financials
- Experience working with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to identify problems, determine solutions, and follow issues through to resolution
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with multiple departments
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent construction experience may be considered in place of a degree
Key Responsibilities HCSS / Heavy Job
- Serve as the company's HCSS Heavy Job subject matter expert
- Maintain and support accurate use of HCSS Heavy Job across project teams
- Review and validate daily field reports
- Review employee time, labor, equipment, material, and production entries
- Monitor proper cost coding and job-cost information
- Identify errors, inconsistencies, and missing information and work with field personnel to correct them
- Assist field personnel and Project Managers with Heavy Job questions and troubleshooting
- Help establish and maintain consistent Heavy Job processes and best practices
- Train and mentor employees on proper Heavy Job usage as needed
- Analyze Heavy Job data to identify production trends, cost issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Help improve the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of project reporting
Project Controls & Job Costing
- Monitor project budgets, production, costs, and productivity
- Assist with forecasting project costs and profitability
- Prepare and analyze production and job-cost reports
- Track labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other project costs
- Work with Accounting to ensure accurate job costing and financial reporting
- Identify cost overruns, productivity concerns, and other project risks
- Provide Project Managers and Operations leadership with accurate project information to support decision-making
Project Management Support
- Assist Project Managers with planning and coordination of civil construction projects
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents
- Support project startup and project setup
- Assist with schedules, purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project correspondence
- Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, rentals, and subcontracted services
- Maintain organized project files, documentation, schedules, and communications
- Assist with project closeout and final reporting
- Participate in project meetings with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Identify project issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate Project Manager or Operations leader
