The Research Specialist I, under general supervision, assists in field experiment activities on the PVAMU research farm. Regular visits and monitoring of project activities. Collect information, including photos, routinely on field activities. Update/maintain and modify the Shell project website. Assist PI, Co-PIs, and researchers as needed. Participate in outreach activities as requested by the program. Work in collaboration with other researchers in the college.
Assist undergraduate and graduate students.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University's compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities- Monitor and report the planting, soil amendment/interventions under the guidance of the project lead and Co-leads.
- Monitor field equipment and sensors.
- Prepare weekly report and update PI/Co-PIs.
- Prepare datasets and presentations to share with other investigators or collaborators.
- Assist undergraduate and graduate students.
- Assist faculty with field demonstrations for students and/or stakeholders, including farmers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree
- Four years of related experience.
- Knowledge about cropping system and soil amendments
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Considerable experience in outreach activities, field work, laboratory analytical techniques, and project implementations.
- Strong interest in working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, educators, and staff.
- Ability to organize tasks and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of field experiments
- Experience and/or skills for outreach activities
- Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
- Ability to exert heavy force.
- Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.
